Considering the Lunar New Year week ahead, turnout was pretty good with strong representation in all pace groups for both HM and FM runners. Along the route, the FM trainees would have to tackle the mentally-draining Changi Coastal stretch as well. The first half of the run was made easier with that immaculate cool, crisp weather of light winds.
To better keep pace and to avoid speeding too much, the respective group runners were chatting with one another to alleviate boredom as well as keep one another in check. After the U-turn, the sun came up, although the heat was not felt that badly as our backs were facing the sun by then. Our day-in-hand was to be used to visit Screwfix in Keighley, to see whether they had a screw for one that is missing from the lock-cover on Erin Mae's back door. They didn't, though Thomas & friends spent a lot of time and energy finding out. So with the Srewfix business terminated, it was bus-pass time again – to pay a visit to Oakworth. Anyone who's seen The Railway Children will have their own mental image of Oakworth, but it's likely to be erroneous. The railway station is at the bottom of the hill, down which we walked with some trepidation, thinking of the return journey. But when we got there, a surprise awaited. Okay- every year the name of this ride causes confusion. Here's the deal: The ride is FREE. ANYONE is invited that wants to ride a lot of challenging gravel. Yep. Maybe less if the weather dictates. It is a NO DROP group ride. Marks on objects can provide intriguing statistical glimpses of usage patterns. Last year, while I was at East Tennessee State University, I happened to notice a particularly striking example of such "statistical wear" on the door to the men's restroom, just down the hall from my office. Entry to the restroom was by a swinging door, which opened inward with a push. Countless hands pushing on the door had worn away the brown stain in one particular area, reflecting where men had preferred to place a hand. The result was a roughly circular spot—a two-dimensional statistical distribution—with the most wear in the middle and progressively less wear away from the center. Countless hands have worn away the stain in one particular spot on the swinging door to a men's restroom. My Beautiful Rose Franciscan Pattern Dinnerare And My Story. My Rose Pattern dish's now have some very pretty green glasses to go with them! When my Mother passed, I asked for her dish set because she and I had a love forthis lovely rose pattern for many years. I remember as a child she only had the sugar bowl and creamer And just two teacups with saucers. She would use these two cups when a neighbor would stop in for a cup of coffee. I do not think we do that anymore. Now more ethical questions are being raised about WellPoint. A frequent resister of insurance rate increases, he at least wanted to make sure Anthem didn't pass along the inflated price it paid for WellPoint to Blue Cross customers. So he refused for months to sign off on the merger, a form of passive resistance that threatened to hold up the entire deal, which also involved WellPoint insurance subsidiaries in other states. Had a fabulous day with Lynn, Gill and all the ladies that visited The Craft Box yesterday for my demo day.
I always get so spoilt when I go there and yesterday was no exception. When I left I was presented with a fabulous sweetie cake!I have never seen one like this before and its wonderful. Sitting stationery for half an hour due to an accident and the most awful rain that even the fastest speed on the windscreen wipers couldnt cope with - fog lights on and the visibility was terrible. What did I expect it is July and the height of our Summer! Anyway had a great time showing the ladies lots of different card ideas with Lots of Dots in Richie and Suzie colours, Best of British, Elegantly Embossed and a few other new bits that will be on the website very soon! Lynda popped in to see me, she had been on my workshop the day before at Leeds which was also really greatm got to meet some really lovely new ladies and catch up with old friends too. The only thing I’m doing tonight is spending a nice quite evening at home watching old True Blood episodes. I decided that Chris has to share my passion and we started watching season one the other night. He still doesn’t quite know what to make of it, but I’m sure he will find it entertaining eventually. At least I hope so for him, ‘cause he’s watching them with me no matter what. Oh we can’t wait for the new season of The Big Bang Theory to start. I’m a Sheldon addict.
I found a nice fan video on you tube about Sookie and Eric, featuring one of the most beautiful and inspiring love songs ever: Lifehouse’s Everything.Though the best part of the song is missing… whatever, enjoy. But way back in high school, I made a super, super special friend. JJTWH and I just fell in love - we had such a rich and intimate and vibrant friendship. We spent as many hours, days, and nights together as possible. We pretty much always wanted to be together, and when we weren't together we were probably talking on the phone with one another. It was inconvenient for our parents to drive us to one another's houses. so we managed to work this situation into countless sleepovers, even on school nights. We spent so many nights talking, listening to music, laughing, adolescent fretting, and - in particular - singing along to the super-cheesy Dolly Parton album "White Limozeen. One of the most amazing things I saw at Vail was little more than a throw-away by one of the participants. It was a hobby project and it simply blew me away. The other attendees expressed similar awe. The gentleman was a plasma physicist. He had immigrated to the US as a child with his parents from Lebanon. Currently he was working on plasma propulsion systems seeking to find a practical means of extended space travel that was not dependent upon carrying billions of gallons of chemicals for conventional rocket motors. A dream was a system that might someday defend the earth from an errant asteroid without Bruce Willis and his Space Rangers. It would land on the asteroid and then employ the existing ice formations to source the propulsive power for the plasma engine to divert the impending doom. Or it could take us to Mars and beyond. Certainly impressive enough, but it was his spare time gadget that was revolutionary. It has been apparent for some time that a lot our military leadership has been politicized. The proportion of warriors to perfumed princes of the Pentagon has eroded seriously. One need look no further than this:Proposed Medal for PassivityIf that item were in The Onion, I'd understand, but National Review Online isn't a joke. YGBSM!!!. The other day I had a dental appointment. There was time to kill beforehand so I sat on a Brooklyn stoop to enjoy the afternoon autumn sun. Women of all ages passed by where I was sitting. Everyone of them gave me a big smile and said hello. Even though I just got a shave and haircut, it didn't seem reason enough for all of them to be so smiley and friendly with me. A particularly beautiful girl turned the corner and I could see her looking at me and smiling from ear to ear. Finally she stopped right in front of where I was sitting and said, "I love your socks. " I was wearing a pair that were bright orange with small black polka dots. A surge of birds first thing and then raptors from mid-morning. A group of women met last night at the Attic Window Quilt Shop to learn how to make a Friendship Braid Quilt. This is a fun quilt to make but can be a little bit tricky in the construction. After sorting our fabrics into lights and darks, the cutting began. These women were concentrating on cutting and didn’t realize I was taking pictures. Cutting is tricky, especially if you are not using the new tool that Chris demonstrated. You have to place your fabrics just right and remember which way you are to turn your ruler as you move along the strip of fabric. I remember that I cut several pieces too short or at the wrong angle when I first made this quilt.
I ended up putting those pieces in the scrappy border.Above, left to right: Emily, Betsy, Maryellen, Chris, Tari, Cathy and Jan. Hopefully our volunteers will be getting lots of awards. Children were accredited for voluntary work, not just in museums but also church groups, dance groups, in fact any out-of -chool activities. Could they do the same in the Egypt Centre? To be honest I was a bit worried about the workload, but they talked me round. After all, they said, many of the modules were already set up, we could offer a whole degree in Egyptology for kids.
